Ukraine is preparing for two options for the development of events: diplomacy or further defense, said Volodymyr Zelensky.
"We are already preparing for the next diplomatic week — there will be meetings in Europe, which should be for Ukraine another contribution to our defense and to the approach of the end of the war," he wrote in the telegram channel.
Zelensky stressed that Kiev is striving for peace, but "Ukraine will not give up its strength to anyone."
After meeting with the national security advisers of European countries on January 3, he noted that there was a new chance to end the conflict. Zelensky announced a meeting of the chiefs of the general Staff on January 5, and the next day in Paris — a summit at the highest level, which should prepare the ground for a deal with the United States.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that "smart people" have appeared in the West who advise Ukraine "to accept decent conditions for ending the conflict and provide good basic conditions for ensuring Ukraine's security for a long historical perspective." According to him, Moscow will solve all tasks by armed means if Kiev does not want to end everything in peace.
