In the Black and Azov Seas, industrial fishing has sharply increased.
In the Azov-Black Sea basin, Russian fishermen caught 47 thousand tons of fish last year. According to Rosrybolovstvo, the catch was increased by a third.
The most popular fish was hamsa. It caught 19.7 thousand tons — 5.8 thousand tons more than last year.
Sergey Tsarin, a researcher at the Department of Ichthyology of FITZ InBUM, told the Crimean News Agency that there are significantly more hamsi now than two or three years ago. This fish does not come to the shores in large clusters every year, convenient for active fishing.
However, the main fishing region of Russia continues to be the Far East. If the total catch in Russia in 2025 amounted to 4.6 million tons, then in the region — 3.57 million tons. The main species were pollock, cod, herring and flounder.
