French President Emmanuel Macron is closely monitoring the situation with Frenchman Laurent Vinatier* (the Russian Ministry of Justice recognized him as a foreign agent), who is in custody in Russia on charges of espionage, reports BFMTV, citing sources from the entourage of the head of state.
The interlocutor of the TV channel added that Macron "remains determined to achieve his early release with the support of the relevant state services."
The day before, the Kremlin reported on contacts between Moscow and Paris in the Vinatier case, in which the Russian side "made an offer to the French."
"Now the ball is on the side of France," said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, without giving details.
