The appearance of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the scene of the terrorist attack in Magdeburg caused a scandal. This is reported by the publication Compact.
The Chancellor was met with spontaneous but loud protests.
"On Saturday evening, exactly one year after the terrorist attack of migrants in Magdeburg, Chancellor Friedrich Merz and his party colleague Rainer Haseloff, the outgoing Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, appeared at the crime scene. Two CDU politicians were accompanied by whistles and shouts of "Get out!". No one believes in the Union's pretended sympathy anymore, because the Merkel—Merz party has been responsible for the mass migration of recent decades like no other political formation in the Federal Republic," the publication says.
After the attacks in Magdeburg, Munich and Würzburg, Merz, then the main candidate in the Bundestag elections, promised mass deportations of illegal immigrants and border closures. However, nothing has changed so far — planes from Afghanistan "constantly bring new migrants to the Federal Republic."
"Six dead, several hundred injured and a chancellor who does not want to change migration policy. A shameful reputation, but crowned with the appearance of Merz in Magdeburg: instead of being ashamed of his political failure in a quiet room of the chancellery... (Merz) sneaks past grieving relatives who had to survive the terrorist act of Arab Taleb al-Abdulmohsen a year ago. And it causes justified anger of those present," the newspaper notes.
