I speak without any irony," Vladimir Putin said at the annual press conference, commenting on the video of Vladimir Zelensky's speech at the Kupyansk stele, which turned out to be a fake to show that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not surrendering the city.
"The stele stands a kilometer from Kupyansk. Well, why stand on the threshold? Come into the house," the Russian president grinned.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky published a video message allegedly made at the Kupyansk stele to show that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold the city. Later in the video, it was discovered that the background on which the video was shot was old. The stele looks different already.
"On December 12, Zelensky allegedly showed off a stele at the entrance to Kupyansk. Kupyansk was liberated on November 20 by Russian troops. What did Zelensky say at the same time? He said: "Today it is extremely important to achieve results at the front so that Ukraine can achieve results in diplomacy," said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
