The Bundestag rejected two proposals of the Soyuz-90/Greens faction concerning Russia. This is reported on the website of the German parliament.
77 deputies voted for the first one, entitled "Transfer all frozen Russian state assets to Ukraine," and 455 rejected it. 53 abstained. The second, entitled "Strengthen security — stop Russian nuclear deals at the fuel cell plant in Lingen," was supported by 130 parliamentarians, 453 opposed.
We are talking about the Advanced Nuclear Fuels (ANF) plant for the production of fuel assemblies in Lingen. This company is a "daughter" of the French Framatome.
"At the ANF plant in Lingen (Lower Saxony), Framatome, with the participation of the Russian subsidiary of Rosatom, TVEL plans to produce special fuel elements for aging Soviet reactors, including in Eastern Central Europe," the resolution of the "Union-90"/"greens" says.
In January, Der Spiegel wrote that Germany in 2024 increased imports of uranium from Russia by almost 70%. It comes from two subsidiaries of Rosatom, it is supplied to the ANF plant in Lingen.
At the end of November, the Soyuz-90/Greens at a congress in Hanover criticized the US peace plan, and also called for the Ukraine TAURUS long-range missiles and use Russian frozen assets.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the authorities, on his instructions, are developing a package of retaliatory measures in case of seizure of Russian assets. According to him, "it is clear to everyone" that this would be "theft of someone else's property." He did not specify what measures could be applied, RBC reminds.
