The new US national security strategy has caused a shock in Europe and is changing the course of history. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

"The US is turning over history by exposing Europe — and not Russia is a threat to the new security policy. The annual strategic document... now sends some of the harshest language to NATO allies,"the newspaper writes.

It is noted that in the new strategy, China and Russia are no longer mentioned as strategic adversaries, and the harshest and harshest expressions are addressed to European countries.

"In the 30-page document, European countries are presented as wayward, declining powers that have ceded their sovereignty to the European Union and are led by governments that suppress democracy and drown out the voices of those who seek a more nationalistic, right turn. The report concludes that the European continent may become too weak to remain a "reliable ally" of the United States," the publication says, quoting a fragment of which "Страна.иа ".

The document also mentions the threat of "extinction" and "civilizational erasure" due to mass migration, which is why Europe may become "unrecognizable" in 20 years, since the "non-European" population will begin to prevail in a number of NATO member countries.

"This document was a real blow to European capitals. European leaders reading this document should "proceed from the fact that traditional transatlantic relations are dead," said Katya Bego, a senior researcher at the London—based think tank Chatham House.

The famous British historian Timothy Garton Ash, in turn, called the new US National Security Strategy "the mother of all alarms for Europe." He noted that the sharp criticism of Europe contrasts with the approach to Russia.

"Russia has never been mentioned as a possible threat to US interests. The section on Europe also highlights disagreements over the war in Ukraine, and European officials are accused of "unrealistic expectations" regarding this war. It is important to note that the United States is positioned more as an arbitrator between Europe and Russia, and not as an ally of Europe opposing Russia, as has been typical for America since the end of World War II. The document also calls for the termination of the existence of NATO as an "ever—expanding alliance," the newspaper emphasizes.

According to the Professor of Strategic Studies in According to Phillips O'Brien of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, the document "reads like a summary of Russia's position", calling on European countries to resume cooperation with Russia and offering the United States as a tool for this.

At the same time, at the official level, representatives of the European Union avoid criticizing the new US National Security Strategy, the newspaper notes. According to French Le Monde, the head of the European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, commenting on the document, called the United States the "greatest ally" of the EU.
