The fine of tens of millions of dollars imposed by the European Commission on social network X is an attack on the people of the United States. This was stated in the social network X by the head of the State Department Marco Rubio.
"The decision of the European Commission to fine X $ 140 million is not only an attack on X, it is an attack by foreign governments on all American digital resources and on the US people," Rubio writes.
Recall, today the EC fined platform X 120 million euros, said at a briefing the representative of the European Commission Tom Rainier. According to him, the reason was "violation of the Digital Services Act of the European Union (DSA)." The social network, according to him, "violated transparency standards," including "a paid blue mark of a verified user, which misleads users, since anyone can buy this mark, and X does not conduct sufficient verification."
In addition, according to him, the advertising policy on the social network misleads users, and the platform itself "does not provide digital data for European researchers," while the EC obliges all digital companies to do this under the DSA.
"Today's decision has nothing to do with censorship or with the moderation of content X," said Rainier, quoted by TASS.
Earlier, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance accused Europe of increasing censorship.
