Ukraine will be forced to make "painful concessions" to Russia during the settlement of the conflict. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl.

According to him, the peace process will be extremely difficult for Ukraine and "may end with a referendum." He believes that the Ukrainians will have to decide whether they will be able to accept the conditions, including territorial concessions.

"The task of diplomacy is to work out compromises that can support the parties to the conflict. In the end, it will always be associated with painful concessions," Wadefoul said.

At the same time, the minister noted that thanks to diplomacy, the chances of peace "have never been greater than they are now."

Recall that in recent weeks, at the initiative of the United States, the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict on the Ukraine has accelerated. In the EU and Kiev criticizes Washington's actions and is not ready for peace. Earlier, the French Foreign Minister rejected negotiations on Ukraine without the participation of Europe.
