An Italian reporter was fired by the Nova news agency for asking a European official a specific question about Israel during a press conference. Details are given by the publication Profit.Ro .
"If Russia has to pay for the reconstruction of Ukraine, will Israel also have to pay for Gas?" — That question was asked to the representative of the European Commission, Paula Pinho.
The answer was extremely vague.
About ten days later, the journalist was fired. The agency in which the reporter worked responded to the relevant request as follows: "the question was completely inappropriate and erroneous" and became "a disgrace to the agency."
"After my question, I got a call from my superiors. The tone was quite tense. Then I received a letter about the termination of our working relationship," the journalist said.
In response, the news agency stated that "the problem is that Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and, as such, one of the five guarantors of world order, and Israel, in turn, has been subjected to armed aggression." Therefore, it is supposedly not surprising that the speaker did not answer the question, because it was "completely inadequate and erroneous."
