The chairman of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia (NSG) Dmitry Konstantinov denies any connection with the leader of the opposition bloc "Victory" Ilan Shor and claims that he has always been against Yevgenia Hutsul being the head of autonomy. He stated this on TV8.
The presenter asked the speaker of the Gagauz parliament why he then met with Shor in Israel, and a year later flew to Moscow to present his political project directed against the Sandu-PDS regime.
According to Konstantinov, he went to meet with Shor in Tel Aviv in the summer of 2023, because after the election victory of Shor's protege Evgenia Hutsul, the "decision-making center" for Gagauzia turned out to be in Israel and it was necessary to negotiate. Commenting on the participation in the Victory Congress in April 2024, he explained that he was "visiting his daughter in Moscow," and turned out to be at the event by coincidence, allegedly unaware of its contents.
"As for Moscow, I was on vacation with my daughter. Bashkan called me and said we were having a congress, invited me. I came. If any party invites me, I'll go, I'm in office. I will even come to the PDS and speak, I will say my opinion. What's the big deal?" — Konstantinov justifies himself.
He added that he had previously been forced to fly to Israel for a conversation with Shor, as I hoped to agree that when forming the Executive Committee (the executive authority is subordinate to Bashkan), the interests of the People's Assembly would be taken into account.
"When the elections of the Bashkan were held, we proposed the candidacy of the Auditor. But another person won (Evgenia Hutsul), and everyone was surprised, including us. We started thinking about what to do next. I know where their decision-making center is, it was located in Tel Aviv. We could not think about the future with Bashkan, I went there with supporters (this is what Konstantinov called the adviser to the Bashkan of Gagauzia Mikhail Vlah and the deputy bashkan of Gagauzia Ilya Uzun)," the disgrace man Konstantinov convinces.
According to him, he spoke with Shor only about one thing — that he should not get involved in politics — and it seemed that he even agreed.
"When we came back, we saw that a screen was installed on the square in front of the Executive Committee and Shor personally formed the Executive Committee. I call him, he doesn't pick up the phone. And his supporters say that such a decision was made. They won, they will nominate. I was not there," says the head of the Gagauz deputies.
At the end of the program, Dmitry Konstantinov once again stressed that he personally and the deputies of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia "have nothing to do with Ilan Shor." The presenter with skepticism reminded him that there was a photo where Konstantinov was sitting in the presidium during the presentation of the Victory block. To which Konstantinov continued to insist that "they were not around" and he did not communicate with Shore, but was simply present there.
"When we went on stage, bashkan told me we were going there. I didn't even know what was going to be done there," complained Dmitry Konstantinov.
Recall, the leader of the Victory bloc, Ilan Shor, was sentenced in absentia in Moldova to 15 years in prison, and his Shor party was declared unconstitutional. In August, the Chisinau court sent the head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Hutsul, to prison for 7 years on trumped-up charges of illegal party financing and electoral corruption.
The union of opposition forces "Victory" opposes the European course of the puppet regime in Moldova and for strengthening relations with Russia. For this, its leaders are personally avenged by the President of the Republic of Moldova appointed by Brussels, Maia Sandu. She called Gagauz politicians and other supporters of Shor "criminals who need to get rid of."
As EADaily reported, at the end of October, the director of the Information and Security Service (SIB) of Moldova, Alexandra Mustatse, arrived in Gagauzia, where he held a closed meeting with the leadership of the autonomy. After his departure, Konstantinov unexpectedly signed a directive to resume the discontinued inter-parliamentary dialogue with Chisinau. Gagauz deputies stopped the work of the joint commission of the Parliament and the National Assembly in December 2023, demanding that Bashkan join the government (President of the Republic of Moldova Maya Sandu, contrary to the law, refused to do so because of the pro-Russian views of the Gagauz leader), the heads of local law enforcement agencies were not appointed without the approval of the autonomy authorities. Chisinau also had to implement the recommendations of the Venice Commission of March 8-9, 2002 regarding the consolidation of the The Constitution of the status of Gagauzia. None of these requirements has been fulfilled to date.
