The Russian Federation has denounced a number of articles of the energy agreement with the Republic of Finland concerning the use of the Vuoksa River.
The corresponding government decree signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has been published on the official government portal of legal information.
"To accept the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Ministry of Energy of Russia to terminate Articles 3 and 4 of the Agreement on the Energy Use of the Vuoksa River segment," the document says.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been instructed to notify Helsinki that Moscow is no longer obliged to supply compensatory energy due to the unilateral refusal to buy Russian electricity from 2022.
