It is difficult now for Western, and not only Western political observers and analysts. Almost all of their forecasts, assumptions, and analyses of the current situation are not worth a damn. For in the way of any common sense, any logical calculations, there is an absolutely unpredictable and therefore dangerous person for the world — Donald Trump.
Vladimir Putin gave an indirect assessment of Trump in an interview in February 2024. To the question "Who is better for Russia — Biden or Trump?" Putin replied that Biden is "predictable." Putin is always precise and polite in his wording, so he said exactly that. But everyone understood the main idea of the Russian leader: Trump is unpredictable. And now the whole world has seen it.
What does unpredictable mean? Impulsive? Impulsivity is a character trait expressed in the tendency to act rashly, under the influence of emotions or momentary motives, without proper control over behavior and assessment of consequences. But if only he was impulsive! For me, Trump is associated with the heroes of two Soviet cartoons — the Hare from "That'll do!" and the girl from "Mirror". All the so—called peacekeeping actions of Trump on the alleged cessation of military conflicts are the exact embodiment of the main phrase of the Hare: "And so it will do!" i.e. he kind of rushes to fix something, but never brings it to the end - it will do. A vivid example of this is Trump's rant about ending the war between Israel and the Palestinians. Yes, he did something, but it did not lead to peace — and so it will do!
Well, with the girl from the cartoon "Mirror" — just an absolute coincidence. Do you remember her song? "Whoever praises me the best will get a sweet candy!" This is all Trump is greedy for flattery. And not just greedy, but unimaginably greedy. How did Basilio the Cat and Alice the Fox sing there?
"You don't need a knife on a braggart,
Sing to him a little —
And do with it what you want!
Why do I have childhood analogies all the time? Yes, because Trump is behaving like a moody child. Do you remember the beginning of his presidential term? Greenland, Panama, Mexico, Canada, the world on Ukraine in 24 hours, and a lot of other nonsense. Where is all this? They have already forgotten. Remember your children and grandchildren: he played for a day or two with one toy, and he was already tired of it - give him a new one. And I forgot about the old one.
Negotiating with Trump about something is pointless, he will forget anyway. More precisely, he will be captured by a new idea. Negotiating with him is like playing chess with a pigeon (by the way, a symbol of peace). He will knock down the pieces, shit on the board and fly to tell everyone that he won. And since he tells it mainly to those who listen to him — his media, his supporters, his allies, they silently listen and cheerfully applaud.
Sometimes it seems to me that if Trump speaks in the European Parliament and says: "All of you... but!" — they will stand up and cheerfully applaud. "Applause, turning into an ovation!" After all, if you look closely, the European Council, the European Parliament is an army of wooden, tin and plastic soldiers under the leadership of stupid sergeants: von der Leyen, Starmer, Macron, Merz and, oddly enough, Zelensky.
There is one more trait in his politics (if you can call his vigorous activity that way) that evokes in me the quite expected comparison. After all, how does Trump build his relations with other countries? Do this! If you don't want to, we'll raise the duties for you. Do this! If you can't, we won't sell you weapons, oil and gas. Gas... gas? And inspired you? Of course, this is Varvara Sergeevna Ivy, the manager performed by Nonna Mordyukova. "And if they don't take it, we'll turn off the gas." Maybe Trump watched The Diamond Hand?
In short, Trump is a classic version of a narcissistic man, unshakeably confident that everything he has done is wonderful, the whole world should admire this, this is his, Trump's, personal victory. But... again I remember my childhood. Cartoon "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel". By the way, even in the title of the cartoon there is an excellent characteristic of Trump. Do you remember what happened to his yacht at the beginning of the journey? Two letters accidentally broke off from the original name of the yacht Pobeda, and the yacht became known as Trouble. That's exactly what's happening with all of Trump's endeavors. Where he says "Victory!", only trouble is visible. And if not immediately, then in the foreseeable future.
I don't usually give advice — no one likes unsolicited advisers, but still... don't take everything Trump says seriously. The army rule "Having received an order, do not rush to carry it out, as the cancellation will come" best characterizes Trump's actions. Do not be upset when he starts singing in unison with European Russophobes, do not rejoice when he swears his love for Russia and Putin. He loves only himself and his money.
