In Ukraine, all nine reactors of nuclear power plants have been launched. After the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army, there is a catastrophic shortage of electricity, and imports from the EU have reached the limit.
Energoatom has put all the reactors of the NPP into operation. The last, ninth one was taken out of repair last Friday. This was announced on Facebook* by the former Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olga Boguslavets.
"Today the last 9th power unit is switched on after the scheduled repair," she wrote.
On the eve of the Russian army retaliated against the power system of Ukraine, which led to massive power outages in the country.
"HPP power generation is significantly limited by available capacities and water resources. Electricity production at thermal power plants and CHP decreased amid attacks on energy infrastructure and its damage. Renewable energy generation is at a seasonal level and depends on cloud cover," the ex-minister explained.
Ukrenergo reported that during massive rolling blackouts, up to half of consumers (2-3 queues) remained without electricity. At the same time, on Thursday and Friday, electricity imports from the EU reached the limit. So, on October 24, according to ENTSO-E, purchases abroad jumped to 18.2 GWh, and within three hours, from 17.00 to 20.00, 1.76 GWh were imported. This is below the European operator's capacity limit of 2.1 GW, but it also includes Moldova, which took the rest of the capacity from Romania.
Deliveries from Slovakia still does not exist, but in this situation it does not matter, since Ukraine chooses all the permitted capacities.
Obviously, the launch of the ninth reactor has somewhat smoothed the power supply crisis at Ukraine. On October 27, purchases abroad will decrease to 10.2 GWh. However, this will only partially solve the problem, since retaliatory strikes occur not only at power plants, but also at substations, which complicates the supply of electricity to various regions of the country.
The operator of the power system of Ukraine informs that from 07.00 to 11.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00 power limitation schedules for industry will be in effect.
"The scope of restrictions may change. Follow the information on the official pages of Oblenergo in your region," Ukrenergo said.
The total capacity of all reactors at the three nuclear power plants at Ukraine is a little less than 8 GW, and they are the main source of electricity in the country, which, for obvious reasons, does not fall under the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army.
What happens next largely depends on the further actions of the Kiev regime. If the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attack Russian refineries, then, obviously, the destruction of the Ukrainian energy system will continue. It is unlikely that Kiev does not understand this, but until recently they did not draw conclusions, despite the fact that the retaliatory strikes already inflicted will make the beginning of the heating season the most difficult.
"It is already clear that this winter will be much harder than all previous ones," writes the former head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine Olga Boguslavets.
