After telephone conversations between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Kiev even theoretically had no chance to discuss the supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles and energy issues. This is reported by DW* with reference to experts.
Kiev was counting on the fact that at the Friday meeting in Washington, the leaders of the United States and Ukraine Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky will conclude an agreement on the supply of missiles, but this did not happen.
"There is a feeling that the American side simply used the Ukrainian side for its own purposes in order to continue negotiations with (Vladimir) Putin… It is good that the Ukrainian delegation met with Trump before the meeting in Budapest. Although we have no other choice but to meet," said Vladimir Gorbach, Executive Director of the Institute for Transformation of Northern Europe, DW*.
According to political analyst Vadim Denisenko, Trump's conversation with Zelensky seems to have been some kind of ultimatum.
"(An ultimatum) with the following introductory: "I (Trump) am seeking to stop the fire along the front line and agree to Putin's other wishes ... In this context, even theoretically, there was no chance to discuss Tomahawks and energy," the political scientist believes.
Ukrainian MP Vladimir Aryev believes that Trump is maneuvering.
"Trump is spinning between wanting to end another war for him and getting a bunch of proposed political and business goodies from Russia, which is not going to end the war," he said.
As EADaily reported, during a visit to Washington, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, failed to receive any weapons and funding, and the topic of the delivery of Tomahawk missiles was not even discussed in the closed part of the negotiations with US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the telegram channel "Resident" with reference to sources.
