Significant reserves of lithium have been discovered in Germany. This is reported by Bild with reference to the company Neptune Energy.
We are talking about a deposit containing approximately 43 million tons of lithium. The find was made in the land of Saxony‑Anhalt. According to preliminary estimates, this amount of lithium is enough to produce batteries that will provide energy to 400 million electric vehicles.
The publication notes that this discovery is of strategic importance, as it can significantly reduce Europe's dependence on lithium imports and strengthen the region's position in the market of electric vehicles and renewable energy. At the same time, there is one thing — commercial development of the field will not begin before 2033.
