In the Bashkir city of Sterlitamak, the local hospital was transferred to a special mode of operation after the explosion at the Avangard plant, which occurred on Friday evening, October 17.
This information was confirmed yesterday at the end of the day by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrei Nazarov in his Telegram channel. He arrived in the city in accordance with the order of the head of the region Radiy Khabirov.
The Minister stressed that the authorities are controlling the situation, all the necessary emergency services and law enforcement agencies are at the scene, the debris is being dismantled by rescuers.
"Unfortunately, there are victims. The Sterlitamak city hospital has been transferred to a special mode of operation. I visited the injured in the hospital. Here they are provided with all the necessary medical care. I wished you a speedy recovery," Nazarov reported.
He also assured that at the moment there is no threat to the health of residents of Sterlitamak and employees of the enterprise. Investigative work is continuing at the site of the explosion in order to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
Local media write that the City Clinical Hospital of Sterlitamak has opened a hotline for citizens' appeals regarding the condition of patients. Victims of the explosion are taken to medical institutions.
According to the latest information, the number of injured is eight people. However, the figure may not be final, since some of the employees were under the rubble.
A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities, which inadvertently caused serious harm to human health).
As reported by EADaily, earlier the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov said that there were victims in an explosion in one of the workshops of the Avangard defense enterprise in Sterlitamak, the building itself was partially destroyed.
