For a person, his own demise and the upcoming meeting with the Lord are more important than the end of the world. This was recalled by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at a meeting with participants of the Faith and the Word festival in the hall of church cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior today, October 16.
"The end of human civilization, with which the Second Coming will be associated, is something that will certainly take place. In the Word of God we find some intentions for what may precede this tragic and at the same time logical event," said Patriarch Kirill.
Over time, the Church realized that the coming of the Savior is a non—historical and metahistorical event, and no one can know at what moment it will come.
"All kinds of reflections on this topic should be accompanied by a humble realization that the day and hour of the Second Coming of the Lord is a mystery that will be revealed only with the coming itself," he said. — What do we care when all this happens? Our question is our demise. This will be the Second Coming for us — because we will stand before the Lord and judgment will be done on us... We need to think less about the apocalypse, more about the salvation of the soul."
