Russia does not plan to pay compensation to Georgia under the ECHR decision. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on October 15.

"We will not implement the decision," he said.

Answering the question whether such a payment could contribute to the warming of relations between Moscow and Tbilisi, Peskov noted that "this is a separate topic."

Earlier, the ECHR ordered Russia to pay 253 million euros to Georgia for "violations" during the 2008 conflict: "excessive use of force," "ill-treatment," "illegal restrictions on movement." Georgia, which attacked South Ossetia, according to the European Court, is not guilty of anything.
