Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko responded to Vladimir Zelensky's criticism of the damage to power facilities in the Ukrainian capital, saying that all measures to protect the critical infrastructure of the city were carried out in accordance with the requirements of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Klitschko published his answer in the telegram channel.

Zelensky on October 10 criticized the protection of the CHP in Kiev, noting that the issue is not only in air defense.

"What questions can there be to the mayor? I could say now that I am thinking about this to everyone, but I won't, because we all have the same war. Therefore, I will not say anti-compliments about those people who are not able to do anything at all," the President of Ukraine said.

Klitschko noted that the Kiev authorities had taken consolidated decisions on protective measures, and wondered: "Did Klitschko not protect the damaged critical infrastructure facilities throughout the country too?"

"It was the City Defense Council that approved and made decisions on protective measures. After all, its representatives have the appropriate competence, experience and professional approach (the Council, let me remind you, includes representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office and other structures)," the mayor said.

After the completion of the construction of the protection of the first level, according to him, a program was developed for the facilities of the second level, providing for backup power supply and the construction of reinforced concrete shelters. Klitschko stressed that the capital has allocated 3.7 billion hryvnia for these shelters. He noted that, despite the secured funding, the city had to implement this program on its own, and "Kiev copes with this task."

Earlier, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KGVA) Timur Tkachenko made a request to check Klitschko's activities. He also urged the mayor to "look into tomorrow" and direct money to ensure the safety of urban infrastructure, instead of spending on bridges and paving stones. He added that the Kiev Defense Council is going to listen to Klitschko's report on the measures taken to protect communal facilities that are under the jurisdiction of the KSCA.

About possible power outages in Klitschko reported in Kiev on the night of October 10. Then the "Country" and the "Correspondent" edition wrote that the explosions sounded in the area of CHP-6. On the same day, part of Kiev was left without electricity, as reported by the Ukrainian energy company DTEK.
