Hamas will not take part in the signing of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on October 12 by the leader of the movement Hossam Badran in an interview with AFP.
In his commentary, he noted that his movement will be represented by mediators from Egypt and Qatar. In addition, as the head of the movement added, the idea of "expelling" Hamas representatives from Gaza as part of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump is absurd, since the territory they occupy is their homeland.
Badran suggested that the second stage of negotiations to establish peace in the enclave will be more difficult than the first and will require lengthy discussions.
On October 10, the Hamas press service reported that their movement, like their allies, Islamic Jihad* (banned in the Russia's terrorist organization) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) reject the idea of any foreign control. The statement emphasized that any form of government in Gaza is a sovereign Palestinian matter, Izvestia clarifies.
