Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on European countries to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis, and not just to strengthen their defense and military forces.
"On the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, on the one hand, we need to become stronger militarily, and Europe is doing this. But I also think that, as during the Cold War, diplomacy is always necessary," Channel Five quoted the ex-Chancellor as saying.
Merkel also appealed to European countries to consider in advance and jointly how diplomatic actions could affect the further development of events.
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the idea of financing a "drone wall" from EU funds.
