Bulgaria has launched a new round of drilling in the Black Sea with the aim of extracting natural gas, which should be an important step in the country's energy development strategy. The publication informs about this novinite.com .

Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov spoke at the national forum dedicated to strategic energy projects, expressing restrained optimism about the possible results of drilling. He noted that if successful, the project could allow Bulgaria to receive up to 30% of additional revenues from each unit of natural gas produced in the Black Sea, which means that approximately every third molecule of the produced hydrocarbons will be sent to the state budget. According to Stankov, these revenues will ultimately benefit Bulgarian citizens.

Vice President Iliana Yotova also spoke at the forum, stressing the importance of national energy security. She warned against repeating mistakes in resource management, making a comparison with Bulgaria's water security, and stressed that the country's energy independence is also linked to the broader energy security of the European Union. Yotova stressed that Bulgaria has a responsibility and obligation to maintain its energy autonomy.
