After processing 99.56% of the votes, the ruling pro—European Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) receives a majority in the parliament of the new convocation - 55 seats. The CEC announced this today, September 29, noting that in a few hours it will announce the final result, which is unlikely to differ from the preliminary one.
As of 8:00, it remains to count votes from 10 polling stations in the diaspora. The PDS is followed by the Patriotic Bloc with 26 seats. In addition, the Alternative bloc is entering parliament — 8 seats, as well as Our Party and Democracy at Home party — 6 seats each.
During the counting of ballots in the diaspora, the PDS rapidly moved forward, which raises suspicions of mass fraud of the results. A similar situation was in the presidential elections last year, when the falsification of the vote abroad allowed Maya Sandu to keep the seat.
Recall that at that time the opposition stated that it did not recognize the "president of the diaspora" as the legitimate head of state, but it did not go beyond declarations. Later, they announced that they would concentrate on parliamentary elections, and after the victory they would hold early presidential elections.
As EADaily reported, on the day of voting, the chairman of the Party of Socialists of Moldova, one of the leaders of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc, Igor Dodon announced a demonstration on September 29 in front of the parliament building. He gathers supporters at 12.00 to "defend the victory of the opposition" or demand the cancellation of the voting results "if it becomes obvious that the elections were grossly rigged."
