It is important for Moscow to understand who will direct and launch American Tomahawk cruise missiles from the territory of Ukraine — the Americans or the Ukrainians themselves. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"We have heard these statements [about possible deliveries of Tomahawk cruise missiles]. We analyze them carefully. Our military specialists are closely monitoring this," Peskov said.
"The question, as before, is as follows: who can launch these missiles, even if they end up on the territory of the Kiev regime. Can only Ukrainians launch them, or should the American military do it after all. Who gives the goal setting to these missiles. A very in—depth analysis is needed here," he said, answering the question of how the Kremlin assesses the statements about the supply of US Tomahawk missiles to Kiev, as well as the fact that they can strike Russia with the consent of US President Donald Trump.
"We have certainly heard the statements, we are studying them. Let's formulate a position for now, understand the potential threats from this, understand who will still be involved in the process, and then it will be possible to determine the response position," the Kremlin spokesman added, speaking about Moscow's possible response to what is happening, quoted by TASS.
As EADaily reported, earlier, the special envoy of the American president, Keith Kellogg, said on Fox News that Trump had allowed Ukraine to launch long-range strikes on the territory of Russia. According to him, in his public statements, Trump, as well as Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could use their capabilities to strike deep into Russia. "There are no forbidden places," Kellogg stressed.
When asked if the United States would transfer Tomahawk missiles to Kiev with a range of 2.5 thousand km, which Vladimir Zelensky had previously asked to provide, Kellogg replied that there was no final decision on this issue yet.
Prior to that, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that the White House is actively discussing the possibility of supplying cruise missiles to Kiev. "The final decision on this will be made by the president. The president will do what is most in the interests of the United States," he said.
