People's Artists of the USSR Oleg Basilashvili and Alice Freundlich were involved in the performance. It is specified that in the 15 years since the premiere, the play has been shown 221 times.
"We will miss this performance full of sincerity, joy, piercing sadness and virtuoso playing, but the life of a theatrical production follows its own laws — and now the creative team of the performance decides to part with the audience," the message says.
The BDT notes that numerous spectators who have signed up for the waiting list for the screenings of this performance will be offered assistance in buying tickets for other performances from the waiting list.
In conversation with the portal News.ru Basilashvili said that he would no longer appear on the stage of the BDT. According to him, Freundlich was the first to refuse this role.
"The performances in which I was engaged in the BDT were removed from the repertoire this year. I won't play anymore," the artist said.
Now Basilashvili spends most of his time in Repino near St. Petersburg.
"I have retired from public life, I live with my family outside the city. Everything that happens in the public space does not interest me," Basilashvili concluded.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the popularly beloved actress with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, I degree. Basilashvili turned 90 in September 2024. Then he stated that he was not going to leave the stage.
