"The Federal Security Service, in cooperation with the Rosgvardiya, stopped the illegal activities of two Russian citizens — a father and a son, born in 1970 and 1992, involved in the preparation and commission of sabotage at oil and gas and transport infrastructure facilities in the Samara Region in 2023-2025," the FSB said. — From a cache equipped in a forest area and in an apartment rented by them 13.5 kg of explosives, a large number of components for the manufacture of explosive devices and three quadrocopters were seized."

During the interrogation, both confessed to the commission of explosions in the Samara region: in July 2023 — the main gas pipeline in Syzran district, in March and September 2024 — railway bridges across the Chapayevka and Samara rivers, as well as involvement in the manufacture and laying of an improvised explosive device in a cache, with the use of which in July 2023 the transformer substation of JSC Kuibyshev Oil Refinery was blown up.

The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Samara region opened a criminal case against the detainees under Part 3 of Article 222.1 (illegal trafficking in explosives or explosive devices), part 1 of Article 223.1 (illegal manufacture of explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Also, the detainees will be prosecuted under Article 281 (sabotage), Article 205.5 (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) and Article 275 (treason) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the totality of the crimes committed, they face punishment up to life imprisonment.

The FSB of Russia stressed that the special services of Ukraine are actively recruiting perpetrators of sabotage and terrorist attacks on Internet sites and in Telegram and WhatsApp messengers to find quick earnings.
