The Romanian Defense Minister said that a Russian drone had flown into the country and the country's air Force was ready to shoot it down. But he flew back to Ukraine.
"It was not shot down, the radars recorded it and saw it approaching our airspace. The planes took off and saw him, they were very close to shooting him down. The drone was flying very low, and at some point it flew into Ukraine. This is the information we currently have. The drone left the airspace, returning to Ukraine," Romanian Defense Minister Jonuts Mostianu said on CNN's Antena 3 TV channel.
F-16 fighters flew out to intercept, which can open fire on drones that violate the state border. Bucharest adopted the relevant law in the spring of this year.
According to the minister, Russian drones fly into the territory of Romania and fly back to Ukraine about once a week, and Romania systematically responds to such incidents.
