Enthusiastic cheers from the conclusion of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the United States changed to skeptical assessments after the publication of the document, much in its text was not agreed. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Speaking to students and faculty of MGIMO, the Minister recalled that the agreements on the conclusion of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan grew out of the agreement reached in 2020 — 2022 between the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"It was decided to conclude it on the territory of the United States. This is the sovereign right of our neighbors. But we need to see how it [the agreement] will work, because all the enthusiastic reviews that sounded in the first few days after the meeting in Washington, these exclamations then somehow changed to skeptical assessments when the document was published," he said.
"And, as it turns out, not everything is agreed there," Lavrov said.
