Nestlé CEO Laurent Freixet was fired after a top manager - his longtime lover — caught him with another employee in a hotel room in Zurich and filed a complaint, followed by a quick internal investigation. It is reported by the British Daily Mail with reference to the Swiss edition of Inside Paradeplatz.
"63-year-old Laurent Freixet, who headed the world's largest food company for less than a year, was fired on September 1 after the company confirmed that he violated the Nestlé code of conduct by not disclosing information about his relationship with a direct subordinate. But behind the official explanation lies a scandal involving numerous affairs, severance deals and a dramatic confrontation," the British newspaper writes.
The "main mistress", allegedly, after discovering the betrayal, used the anonymous Nestlé hotline to report the CEO's behavior. As a result, Freixe was put up without severance pay, despite almost 40 years of work in the company.
The top manager who filed the complaint took up a new position at another large company and, according to Inside Paradeplatz, received severance pay "related to internal consequences."
The second participant of the events also left Nestlé and reportedly received a generous severance package personally arranged by Freixet before his dismissal.
"Freixet's revelations and the sensational circumstances of his resignation shocked even the highest ranks of Swiss business," DM notes.
