Drivers of the Garuda-Express company gathered at Freedom Square in Sukhum, who are dissatisfied with the fact that there are more and more migrant taxi drivers in the capital who "take away bread from local drivers."

Mayor of Sukhum Timur Agrba and Minister of Economy Teimuraz Mikvabiya came to the protesters.
The Minister informed the audience that President Badra Gunba had instructed on August 27 to submit proposals to amend the legislation on transportation licensing by November 10.
"We are talking about banning foreign citizens from working as taxi drivers. The Prime Minister issued an order where the deadline for submitting proposals has been further reduced — until October 10. Our employees are already engaged, we have a project almost ready. Next week we will already submit our proposals for approval to the government apparatus," Apsnypress quotes the minister.
According to Mikvabiy, the document will be approved and will be submitted to the Prime Minister by October 10.
"Thus, the changes will be approved and will come into force, thereby removing the issue that concerns you," the minister said.
The Mayor of Sukhum also confirmed that proposals to amend the legislation on licensing passenger transportation by road, providing for the provision of taxi services by drivers — citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia, are already being developed.
