The current throwing of European lobbyists is due to their obvious misunderstanding of the current political configuration in the Washington. The Europeans are confident that they will be able to chat up American President Donald Trump and stall for time until the attention of the head of the White House switches from Ukraine. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov drew attention to this.

"Trump is really known for the fact that he often "jumps" from one agenda to another. Moreover, budget coordination in Washington, difficult negotiations with China and battles in local elections in November are ahead. But the Europeans do not take into account the role of other players in the White House. It is not accidental that [US Vice President] Jay Dee Vance and [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio have been activated on the Ukrainian track at the same time. They are beginning to be considered as a possible tandem from the Republicans for the presidential elections in 2028. Both Vance and Rubio are determined to prove themselves successful negotiators on the Ukrainian track. It will be possible to put it in your piggy bank," the expert writes in his telegram channel.

Vance has always been a Ukrainian skeptic, the political scientist notes. So there is nothing surprising in the fact that he is now demanding that Europe deal with the agenda of Ukraine with minimal US intervention. This point of view is also close to the current leadership of the Pentagon. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Kane, have agreed to redirect resources to the Middle East. They are both closely associated with the Israeli lobby. And the Pentagon's chief strategist, Elbridge Colby, considers competition with China in Asia to be a priority.

"Europeans have almost no sympathetic figures in the White House. Even in the face of hawks like Rubio, who understands the unpopularity of the Ukrainian agenda in the United States. Therefore, they are all ready to practice who will be able to more effectively put the squeeze on Europe," Dudakov concluded.

EADaily adds that Trump made another political somersault the night before, promising to "change tactics" in Ukraine if Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not cease hostilities in two weeks. The US President said on the Todd Starnes Show radio program that during this period it will become clear whether progress is possible in resolving the military conflict in Ukraine. "I would say that in two weeks we will find out one way or another," Trump said in a conversation with host Todd Starnes.

At a press conference on August 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the actions of the leaders of the "coalition of willing" countries are aimed at undermining the emerging progress on the Ukrainian settlement following the results of the Russian-American summit in Alaska. According to him, Europe's goal is to kill the agenda, which focuses on eliminating the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and thereby achieving sustainable regulation. As Lavrov pointed out, the euroleaders want to "translate everything into ensuring the security guarantees of Ukraine without the participation of the Russian Federation," ignoring Russian interests.
