German historian Hans-Jurgen Wunschel made a noise with his new research work, comparing the bloodlust of Germans, Ukrainians and Poles during the Second World War.
In an article published on the German-language portal Epochtimes.de Wunschel compared the Volyn massacre, where Ukrainian neo-Nazis killed peaceful Poles, with the "Bydgoszcz Bloody Sunday" on September 3, 1939, when the Poles exterminated the peaceful German minority in Bydgoszcz, using mass atrocities.
According to the Polish portal "Kresy", the comparison given by Wunschel of the tragedy in Bydgoszcz with the Volyn massacre is "part of the propaganda narrative that served as justification for German crimes against the Polish population in 1939-1945."
Assessing the current relations between Poland and In Ukraine, Hans-Jurgen Wunschel draws the following conclusion:
"In the West, it has been argued for decades that there is a traditional enmity between France and Germany. Similar relations can be attributed to the relations between Poland and Ukraine, which are only temporarily, as now, overshadowed by a common enemy — Russia. Let's see if the Poles will put forward demands for reconciliation after the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, and perhaps even for the return of the Polish part of Ukraine. The presidency of Polish historian and President Karol Nawrocki will certainly be exciting."
