The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attack Russian refineries. The Russian army strikes back. One of the goals may be to cut off gas production regions by Ukraine from the rest of the territory controlled by Kiev.
On the night of August 21, the Russian army retaliated against Ukraine. It also fell on the GTS facility.
"On the night of August 20-21, during an air attack by the Russians, one of the facilities of the gas transportation system of Ukraine was hit. The assessment of the damage continues. Thanks to the actions of the personnel, the damage site has been localized," the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.
Judging by the videos on the network and the NASA fire platform, a compressor station northeast of Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region. A fire continues at the station.
The day before, on Tuesday, the Russian army struck a compressor station near Lubni in Poltava region. In Kiev, a hit was also confirmed.
The main gas production center of Ukraine is located in Poltava and Kharkiv regions. It provides almost two-thirds of the country's consumption. And both stations are key for the country's gas supply with fuel of its own production. Two main supply routes pass through them.
Gas pipelines to Kiev and further to Western Ukraine, where the main gas storage facilities are located, go through the Lubni station. At the same time, the compressor station near Pavlograd is located on another main line. The Trans-Balkan route, through which Russia supplied gas to the Balkans and to Turkey, and now the supply of the center and south of Ukraine is underway.
It is not yet known how serious the consequences of the attacks will be for Ukraine. About a third of all deliveries are provided by imports, which come mainly from Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. At the same time, Russia's hint about the consequences of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on the Russian refinery and the Druzhba oil pipeline is more than transparent.
