The issue of the legitimacy of the signatory from the Ukrainian side will be resolved in case of reaching agreements with Kiev. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks in Moscow with Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar.

"Our President [Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly said that he is ready to meet, including with Mr. [Vladimir] Zelensky, with the understanding that all issues that require consideration at the highest level will be well worked out and experts and ministers will prepare appropriate recommendations. And of course, with the understanding that when and if it comes to signing future agreements, I hope, the issue of the legitimacy of the person who will sign these agreements from the Ukrainian side will be resolved," Lavrov said.

In the meantime, the Russian Foreign Minister pointed out, Zelensky has not canceled his three-year-old decree, which expressly prohibits negotiating with Putin.

"And obviously his activity on the subject of organizing a summit with the Russian leader has the goal of showing his supposedly constructive focus on the settlement process, but in fact — just to replace the serious, hard, difficult work on agreeing on the principles of sustainable crisis resolution with such effects in the style of KVN, in the style of "Quarter 95" and other tricks" Lavrov summed up, quoted by TASS.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he was starting to prepare a face-to-face meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. This meeting will take place in a place that has yet to be determined, after which negotiations will be held in a trilateral format, Trump wrote on the Truth Social network after his meeting with Zelensky and the leaders of European countries ended at the White House.
