Switzerland and Austria have said they are ready to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). We are talking about possible negotiations with Vladimir Zelensky and with the participation of US President Donald Trump, as reported by AFP.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that, according to the rules established last year, the Swiss federal government can grant "immunity to a person against whom an international arrest warrant has been issued" if he comes "for a peace conference, and not for personal reasons."
In turn, French President Emmanuel Macron raised the issue of the possibility of holding a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky in Europe, "in a neutral country, possibly in Switzerland," and spoke in favor of hosting the UN European headquarters in Geneva. In neighboring Austria, Chancellor Christian Stoecker proposed holding a conference, recalling the "long-standing tradition" of Vienna, where the headquarters of many international organizations, such as OPEC, IAEA, OSCE, are located.
