The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili commented on the meeting of the Presidents of the United States and Russia in Alaska. According to him, the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin confirmed that the war between Russia and the West could have been prevented, and Georgia was dragged into the conflict as a pawn.
"The meeting in Alaska was notable for the fact that the Russian president agreed with President Trump's opinion that the war could have been avoided. If peace was possible and the US president had leverage over this process, then this is confirmation that the war is going on between Russia and the West. Such a consideration is not new. However, it was also officially confirmed at the meeting of the presidents. Before that, there was a statement by Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the war on In Ukraine, this is a so—called proxy war, that is, a war unleashed by a puppet. This confirmation directly reveals what kind of confrontation foreign friends-enemies and agents of their interests from among our internal "useful" idiots tried to drag us into," Papuashvili writes on the social network.
According to the Speaker of the parliament, this meeting showed why in 2022 in Georgia did not start the war.
"Because those who wanted to use our country as a weapon faced patriots in the Georgian government, not puppets, unlike in 2008," Papuashvili said.
He recalled that five months before the conflict on In Ukraine, "when it was already clear what everything was going to, in October 2021, foreign intelligence agencies secretly transferred to Mikhail Saakashvili's Georgia on the day of elections to local self-government bodies, called a referendum, in order to change power by force."
"Today it is clear to everyone what the purpose of this plan was — so that they would be met in government offices by people who would not hesitate to agree to "use the window of opportunity", "accept the bomb rain" and "distract ten thousand Russian soldiers here", turning Georgia into a pawn sacrificed for another combination on the chessboard the global confrontation," Papuashvili said.
