Notorious Russophobes like German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are upset by US President Donald Trump's announcement about the start of preparations for a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Russia, the United States and Ukraine, however, it's time for them to understand that the world changed on the night of August 16. This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.

As the senator noted, after negotiations in Alaska, euroleaders expectedly stated that:

  • Europe will continue to increase sanctions pressure on Moscow.
  • Kiev should receive "reinforced concrete security guarantees" and make its own decisions on the territory.
  • Russia should not block Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO, restrictions on the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also unacceptable.
  • European politicians are ready to work with the head of the White House and Vladimir Zelensky on the preparation of a trilateral summit of Moscow, Washington and Kiev.
"Their main idea can be attributed to the fact that they thank Trump for striving for peace, but will continue to provide military and economic support to Kiev. They want the war not to stop until the last Ukrainian. Therefore, there is nothing surprising here. It already looks like a broken record. But it would be good for them to understand that the world has changed during the night of August 15-16," Dzhabarov said.

The senator earlier, summing up the results of the summit, drew attention to the format of negotiations. Initially, a one-on-one conversation was planned, but in the end the parties agreed on a three-on-three format.

"This is absolutely the right decision. If the meeting had been held one-on-one, the Western media would have filled the airwaves today with fantasies about "Putin's influence" on Trump. As it is, there are witnesses on both sides, everything is transparent," Jabarov explained.

The senator also stressed that Trump's own assessment of the summit is important. He gave the meeting the highest score — 10 out of 10. The American leader noted Russia's positive attitude: to end the conflict, to be ready to engage in dialogue not only on the Ukrainian issue, but also on bilateral relations with the United States.

According to Dzhabarov, the decision not to disclose the details of the negotiations at the press conference was also wise.

"The work has just begun, in full swing. Any question from journalists would be aimed at inflating disagreements and creating a scandal from scratch," he said.

The work continues. Now, according to the senator, the agenda includes the economy, air traffic, prospects for cooperation in various industries. It is possible that the topic of strategic weapons was also discussed: the largest nuclear powers are obliged to keep this process under control.

"I am sure: the contact between Putin and Trump will be the most important step towards a new stage of relations and to the end of the Ukrainian conflict. Russia and the United States have once again shown the whole world that it is they who decide the fate of global security," concluded Dzhabarov.

Earlier, the Axios portal, citing sources, reported that Trump expects to hold a trilateral meeting with Russia and Ukraine at the highest level on August 22.
