The negotiations of the Russian and American delegations in the "three on three" format ended in Anchorage, Alaska. They began around 22.30 Moscow time on August 15 and lasted three hours.
Press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov earlier estimated that the meeting could last a total of "at least six to seven hours."
In the hall where the talks were held, the slogan of the meeting was placed above the presidents: "In pursuit of peace." It was held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base. The negotiations were supposed to begin with a one-on-one conversation, as previously reported in the Kremlin. However, it started in a different format — "three on three".
In addition to Putin and Trump, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov participated on the Russian side, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff participated on the American side.
Trump flew to Alaska first. When the special flight of the Russian president arrived, the leaders simultaneously got off their planes, met on the red carpet and shook hands.
This is the first meeting between Putin and Trump in six years, the last time the leaders met in June 2019 in Osaka.
