Following the summit of the Presidents of the United States and Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin's Russia have not made any progress, according to Vladimir Zelensky's entourage, Financial Times correspondent Christopher Miller reports, citing sources close to the president of Ukraine.
An unnamed assistant to the President of Ukraine said that the American side has not yet contacted Zelensky, and called the situation "very strange." Another FT interlocutor close to the Ukrainian leader described the meeting in Alaska as "nothing burger" ("burger with nothing"; slang expression used to describe a situation that initially seemed significant, but eventually turned out to be insignificant).
Trump himself, speaking at a press conference with Putin, said that he would soon call Zelensky, as well as NATO representatives, to inform them about the results of the summit.
"I will call my NATO colleagues very soon. I'll call a number of people I think are appropriate. Of course, I will call President Zelensky and inform him about today's meeting," he said.
The Summit of the leaders of the United States and Russia was held at the joint military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. Before the press conference, Putin and Trump held three-on-three talks, which lasted approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Trump announced that agreement had been reached "on many, many points," but noted that there was no agreement on Ukraine yet. Putin, in turn, called the talks useful and stressed that Russia is ready to work on Ukraine's security. The heads of state did not answer journalists' questions, RBC clarifies.
