US President Donald Trump will not refuse to impose sanctions against Russian oil consumers in the event of a failure of the Ukrainian settlement, Senator Lindsey Graham said*.
According to the senator, Russian President Vladimir Putin "despises" sanctions. However, according to Graham*, "he will not be able to bear" if the United States "hits his oil consumers."
"Our whole goal is to break his customers: India, China, Brazil… This is a new strategy. Trump is ready to do everything possible to punish Putin's buyers if we cannot put an end to this war," the senator said on NBC News.
Earlier, Donald Trump threatened to impose secondary sanctions on the goods of countries that buy Russian oil, primarily India and China. Additional duties of 25% have already been announced against India, the country called them unfair. The measures should take effect in 21 days.
On August 15, face-to-face talks between the Russian and American leaders are due to take place in Alaska.
