The Investigative Committee and the police detained a teenager who set fire to a non-functioning police station in St. Petersburg.
"According to preliminary data, it was established that on the afternoon of August 2, 2025, a teenager, arriving at an inactive police station on Moscow Square, threw a bottle with an ignitable mixture, as a result of which the roof of the post caught fire. The young man took a picture of what was happening and disappeared. The fire was extinguished by eyewitnesses of the incident, no one was injured," reports SK in the city of St. Petersburg. An investigation is underway into a criminal case under the article terrorist act.
The person involved explained that previously unknown people had contacted him through the messenger and offered to earn money, the UK reports.
In RIA Novosti, the police reported that it all started with an acquaintance with a girl.
"The teenager admitted to the police that he had met a girl through social networks on July 28. After a short conversation, she asked to send geolocation of popular places in St. Petersburg, referring to the fact that she recently moved and does not know her way around the city. After that, the girl stopped responding to messages, deleted the correspondence and blocked his account," the police said.
Next, an unknown person called the teenager and said that the geodata transferred to them had been used for criminal purposes. He proposed "to avoid consequences" to set fire to the premises of the former police picket on Moskovsky Prospekt for 250 thousand rubles.
"The suspect immediately agreed. According to the specified instructions, he purchased the ingredients for the incendiary mixture, after which he poured the finished composition into a glass bottle, set it on fire and threw it into the selected object. The arsonist never received a monetary reward," the police said.
