The Government of Moldova at a meeting today, July 16, approved the naming of the Chisinau International Airport after the Moldovan and Russian composer Yevgeny Doga. This is a sign of gratitude for his contribution to the national and world culture and promotion of the country's image.

The initiative belongs to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. Minister Vladimir Bolya stressed that this gesture has a deeply symbolic meaning for the whole society.

"This initiative is aimed at honoring the memory and perpetuating the name of Maestro Eugene Doga, a symbol of our culture, Romanian spirit and Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova through his unique music," he said.

The accompanying document to the government's decision states that the name of Yevgeny Doga can arouse interest and curiosity among tourists and foreign guests, contributing to the formation of the country's cultural image. The Cabinet unanimously supported this idea.

"Indeed, Moldova can give unprecedented talents to the world — world—class talents," summed up Prime Minister Dorin Rechan.

Moldovan and Russian composer and teacher Yevgeny Doga died at the age of 88 on June 3. In Moldova, national mourning was declared in connection with the death of the composer.

Evgeny Doga is the author of music for more than 200 films. Among the most famous are "My affectionate and gentle beast", "Single people are provided with a hostel", "Valentine and Valentine", "Queen Margot", "The Camp goes to the sky" and many others. He is also the author of three ballets and a symphony, several musicals and quartets. Two waltzes by the composer were included in the two hundred best classical works of all time.

As reported by EADaily, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of Yevgeny Doga in connection with the death of the composer.

"The original, inspired creativity of Yevgeny Doga, his educational and charitable activities are a bright page in the history of our multinational culture," the text of the appeal said.
