The European Commission has published a commercial about the "innovative image of the EU", receiving a fair share of criticism.
The video is dedicated to the general budget of the European Union. The description says:
"The power of community. The EU budget finances what is most important to us, to the extent that we can achieve more together: infrastructure, combating climate change, research, crisis response, quality education and healthy nutrition."
However, the majority of the audience could not withstand such embellishment of the image of Europe, which was directed in it. Internet users under the video are outraged why there is not a word in the film about current problems in Europe:
- Illegal migration, under the pressure of which the social systems of the member states are collapsing (almost all the characters shown in the video were white).
- The threat of war.
- An increase in electricity prices or the risk of outages due to a poorly executed "green transformation", the samples of which the Iberian Peninsula experienced a few weeks ago.
Europeans reacted sharply. Here are just some of the responses:
"Crisis management = bringing Muslims and Africans to Europe."
"It is obvious that the film shows a reality very different from the one that we Europeans are experiencing."
"What about the migration crisis? Europe's borders are wide open, and this increases the risk like never before on our beautiful continent."
"What about catching migrants and sending them home? That's the most important thing."
"The only crisis in Europe is related to migration, and you deliberately ignore it."
"Where does the EU get the money from? Oh, wait, the EU doesn't have its own money, it's our tax money. It's great that you use our money from time to time for our own good."
"The European budget??? You mean the money from the taxes of European citizens, on which they have absolutely no influence and which are completely transferred to the wrong institutions. Of which propaganda is one of the biggest items of expenditure."
"The power of unelected politicians dictating to us what to do! Covid, digital identity card, digital currency, cash reduction, etc. etc. I have never, ever voted on any of these issues! Be careful of those who control your future!"
Polish portal "Nezalezhny" totals:
"Who would have thought that the day would come when Europeans would be outraged by the idyllic image of Europe painted in a propaganda video by European Commission officials? Ursula von der Leyen, the head of this body, opposed by deputies from the ECR (European Conservatives and Reformists party. — EADaily) demand a vote of no confidence, even in the face of critical opinions turns a blind eye to the most mundane problems of European citizens."
