Despite the losses on the Ukrainian front, Russia is not only rebuilding, but also expanding its armed forces. This was stated by American General Christopher Cavoli, who is leaving the post of NATO commander in Europe.
The American general listed the advantages of the Russian army at the moment.
"Russia has kept its air and naval forces almost intact, with more than 1,100 combat aircraft and a fleet of more than 60 submarines and 42 surface ships capable of carrying nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The Russian military industry has gone into war mode. Russia has opened new production facilities and re-equipped civilian lines for military needs. This year, Russian industry is expected to produce 1,500 tanks, 3,000 armored vehicles and 200 Iskander ballistic missiles. For comparison, the United States produces only about 135 tanks a year and no longer produces new Bradley combat vehicles," EUROMI quotes Cavoli.
Also, according to him, Russia is expanding its military infrastructure on the borders with Finland and the Baltic countries. Atlantic Council experts warn that if Russia is "given two, maybe three to five years" to restore its strength, and the West does not accelerate its own modernization, then "Europe will be at a serious disadvantage in the event of a high-intensity conflict."
