To restore gas reserves, Ukraine needs to increase imports. So far, Kiev has found money for 60% of the required volumes.
"Because of the strikes on gas production, on storage facilities, the situation is very difficult, really difficult... Of course we will import much more gas this year," Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in the Verkhovna Rada. His speech was broadcast on Youtube by People's Deputy Alexey Goncharenko❶.
The head of the Ministry of Energy was informed that the minimum volume of imports should be 4.6 billion cubic meters. At the same time, according to Galushchenko, 2.9 billion cubic meters have been contracted so far.
"It is imported gas that will be pumped into storage facilities," the minister said. The contracts have been confirmed financially, he noted.
Ukraine has completed the heating season closer to April — with almost completely empty storage facilities. There are 670 million cubic meters of active gas left in the UGS, excluding buffer gas. According to GIE, on June 18, 2.85 billion cubic meters are already in Ukrainian storage facilities, and daily injection has increased to 48 million cubic meters per day.
However, this is not enough. To restore stocks, taking into account emergency imports in February-March, it is necessary to supply another 6.15 billion cubic meters. However, for this, the average upload to Ukraine should be at the level of 60 million cubic meters per day.
As EADaily reported, since the beginning of May, the price of gas on the Ukrainian stock exchange has increased 1.6 times and exceeds European quotations by 50%. The country does not have enough fuel and money for it. Private traders are ready to supply gas, but if it is profitable for them.
