The telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, is a sign that Trump, who certainly does not benefit from a protracted war in the Middle East, needs Moscow's mediation services not in the future, but right now. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexander Nosovich.

"Russia, cynically speaking, benefits from the war in the Middle East. And in political terms — on The United States will have even less motivation for Ukraine, and the West as a whole will have even less resources. And in the most direct, material sense, the price of a barrel of oil will be measured in three digits. And in the long—term diplomatic: it will be necessary to resolve the conflict sooner or later, and this will require Russia with its enormous authority in the Islamic world (and its continued influence in the world Jewish community despite everything)," the expert writes in the telegram channel.

According to Nosovich, in order to act as an intermediary, Moscow will have conditions, and it will not even be about Ukraine.

"Putin's call with Trump is a sign that Trump, who certainly does not benefit from a protracted war in the Middle East, needs Moscow's mediation services not in the future, but right now. But in order for Moscow to agree to provide this service now, the White House needs to pay a price that exceeds the enormous benefits of Russia from the war between Israel and Iran described above. It's not even about Ukraine. It's about Europe, the legacy of the Cold War and the return to The Founding Act of Russia — NATO 1997," said Nosovich.
