Iranian media published the first photos of the wreckage of the American-made Israeli F-35 fighter jet shot down on Friday evening.

"A photo of the wreckage of the Israeli F-35 fighter jet, which was shot down as a result of the operation of Iran's air defense systems," reads the caption to the photo posted by the Mehr agency.

Earlier, on Friday evening, the press service of the Iranian army confirmed the destruction by the air defense forces of two Israeli F-35 fighters and several UAVs.

On the night of June 13, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale operation in which the Air Force strikes military targets and facilities of Iran's nuclear program. The Israeli authorities said that the operation is aimed at preventing a threat to the existence of the Jewish state, since, according to the Israeli military and intelligence, Iran has approached the "point of no return" in the creation of nuclear weapons in a short time.

The Israeli Air Force carried out several waves of attacks in various parts of Iran, including Tehran, where, according to Iranian media, some high-ranking Iranian military and a number of nuclear scientists were eliminated. The nuclear facility in Natanz, the location of the Iranian military in the north-west of the country, was also hit.

The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in his message to the citizens of the country, called Israel's strikes on Iran a crime and said that Israel was waiting for a "bitter and terrible fate." Then Iran launched rocket attacks on Israel.
