"Bild in Russian"* reports that, according to one of the well-known Israeli journalists Amit Segal, Israel achieved the effect of surprise with the help of a finely thought-out disinformation operation. It was attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
"Before the attack on Iran, a deception operation was carried out, which included media and diplomatic elements — both at the internal and external levels. Various actors participated in it," says Segal.
According to the Axios portal, Trump's public warnings about a possible Israeli attack on Iran were part of the spectacle.:
"Trump and his advisers only pretended that they did not approve of the attack — in fact, they did not object."
Israel purposefully spread rumors that Trump wants to prevent an attack. Trump himself also said that Israel may strike, but not in the near future, and that the US is still seeking a diplomatic solution. Since it was impossible to hide the training on such a scale, Israel chose the tactic of "hiding in plain sight," Segal explains. When it is impossible to hide something, talk about it openly, hoping that the Iranians will think: "A loudly barking dog does not bite." So Israel convinced the mullahs that the attack (so far!) not threatening.
According to Segal, another element of lulling Tehran's vigilance was the meeting scheduled for June 15 between US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Iranian diplomats. In addition, information has "leaked" from Israel that Netanyahu will not take any steps against Iran before the wedding of his son Avner, scheduled for June 16. All this, the journalist claims, was part of the plan.
After the start of Operation Lion Rising, the US stated that Israel was acting independently — however, Israeli sources claim that the US supported Netanyahu. An Israeli Government spokesman said:
"We have provided the American administration with evidence that Iran is close to creating a nuclear bomb. Full and comprehensive coordination with the Americans was carried out."
Then Trump admitted that he knew about the upcoming operation.
