The head of the British Armed Forces, Tony Radakin, denied the words of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about Russia's alleged intention to attack the alliance.

"Russia does not want to fight with NATO. And Russia does not want a nuclear war. We must be sure of this," he said, answering questions from members of the Defense Committee of the House of Commons of the British Parliament.

Radakin believes that the powerful military potential of the alliance "holds back Russia."

Speaking of the number of British As well as the ability to quickly compensate for losses in the event of a high-intensity conflict, the admiral said that London and its partners primarily rely on their technical strength.

"Some people talk about how we would fight with Russia if the war were long and protracted, and how we could compensate for the losses that Ukraine is suffering. There is a risk in this way of thinking. We would not have fought the way Ukraine does," TASS quoted Radakin as saying.

EADaily reported that Rutte called the time frame when "Russia can attack NATO." Now Russia cannot attack NATO, but within three to five years it will be able to do so, said the Secretary General of the alliance, speaking at a conference in the UK on June 9.

NATO intends to prepare for a conflict with Russia during these three to five years. Answering questions about where such deadlines came from, Rutte said that "this is what the NATO military is talking about."

"For example, the other day the chief of the German General Staff said that Russia would be ready to attack NATO by 2029, that is, in four years," Rutte said.

In this regard, he called on the alliance countries to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP.

In the summer of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the statements of the collective West about Russia's readiness to attack NATO countries were nonsense, "bullshit"
